We celebrated 5 years this past March with a trip away from the babies flew up to the Pacific West Coast to finally see Cannon Beach. This place has been on my bucket list and Austin so agreed to visit even though we both really wanted to go to San Diego for some sunshine. The past 3 years have been so full of growth. More personal growth than together growth. We've both started businesses and had 2 kids. Which when you add all those factors together, it doesn't leave much time for marriage. We've had low points and high points but overall that last few years have been hard with lots of sprinkles of beautiful moments surrounded by joy & laughter. And that's okay, its okay to admit that marriage is hard, gosh marriage is hard even without kids or starting businesses. So we are moving into a new season. A season where we feel like God is redeeming brokeness and pouring out his Oil on our marriage and I really wanted to get anniversary photos taken to celebrate that.
These photos above are from Cassandra Shiree Photography and mean the world to me. She captured us so well. I blew up 2 of these photos for our room and then got them all printed to keep around the house as a simple reminder of our promises to each other. Below is my favorite quote that rings true to my heart from the book Present Over Perfect.
“It’s easy to be liked by strangers. It's very hard to be loved and connected to the people in your home when you're always bringing them your most exhausted self and resenting the fact that the scraps you're giving them aren't cutting it."
This quote woke us up and made us realize all the things that need to change in our lives because we couldn't bring the "scraps" home anymore.
Gosh, I love this man, and I'm so thankful for him. He chooses to stay and stick it out and work through the grit with me when walking away would be much easier. If you're in a hard season, remember God is faithful and knows your heart. Don't give up, redemption is yours!
Casey drove down from Seattle to take these for us! If you are in the area and looking for a photographer I highly recommend her! We had a blast even though it was absolutely freezing!
