Bedroom Makeover with Bed Bath & Beyond
Friends!! I am so beyond excited to share our bedroom makeover with you today! This project has been in the works for a few months so to see it finally all out here on the blog is such a special feeling. Our bedroom has been on the backburner for quite a few years but I always had a vision for this space. Fast forward to moving and finally feeling like we need a finished space to unwind + a partnership with Bed Bath & Beyond and all my dream beachy vibes came to life!
Even though we live in the mountains, our hearts belong by the water. We lived in Florida for like a hot second after we got married and we still ask ourselves, WHY did we move away? We travel to the beach as much as possible and dream of having a second home near the water one day. With those dreams in mind, I knew I wanted to fill this space with lots of mixed wood tones and all the texture. Throughout our home, I usually have a huge pop of color in each room and or a colorful rug. But for this space, I wanted to create a peaceful environment to unwind, read a book, pray and just have a moment to ourselves and neutrals felt so right. Take a peak below and let me know your thoughts!
Our room is actually the same exact size as Olives and we chose it because it has the most functional closet, even though her room has the dreamiest window. Though our room is small I knew I wanted to create a little reading space for us. I found this chair and fell in love and new Austin would appreciate too. It's modern and comfortable and makes me want to sit and listen to the waves roll in... on the sound machine lol. I styled it with this driftwood side table and this lamp because I loved the drawstring vibe and I can't forget the ottoman that has tons of texture and Pearl loves to play with any chance she gets. I threw in some personal touches like a vintage candle holder, pictures from our anniversary, plants and books we are currently reading and it really feels like this corner is complete!
Next up is our bedframe + bedding + rug! We have a king bed so finding a bed frame can be a task. A lot of places I looked only go up to a queen so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Bed Bath & Beyond had tons of choices for a king sized bed online. We chose a Slated Platform Bed since we don't have a boxspring and I'm really happy the style and paired the bedding with white sheets and an oatmeal duvet from the Wamsutta Vintage line. If you're not familiar with the Wamsutta collection the PimaCott sheets are made with 100% pure Pima cotton and really durable without losing its integrity. (ahem ahem #kidstryandruinnicethings) At first, I was wondering if the ruffles on the duvet cover were a little too girly, but turns out I really love how much texture they bring more to the bed. Choosing a rug was hard because I also go for color. As soon as I saw this Vintage rug I knew it was the one! Then, it got even better once it was delivered because it feels like velvet! Seriously, the softest rug I've ever stepped on I want to replace all my rugs with it. Since our room is small, and there's not enough space for nightstands next to our bed we opted for a large wicker basket to work as a hamper... It's nice because it has a fitted lid and we can still set a cup down or charge our phones next to our bed.
Last is the dresser! We share a closet that was built in the early 1900's and it 100% needs a dresser. Sticking with the beachy theme I chose a 5 drawer dresser in oak because of it kind of looks like driftwood. I paired it with some darker vintage decor to tie into our bedframe and filled the top with some local artists jewelry holders and some favorite photos of us.
